Drawbacks are all Intuit marketing related, not product related. I have used these product for more than 20 years and cannot emphasize enough my frustration with the comapany. The process to buy and use Amazons product instead of auto-renewing theirs is also horribly cumbersome. They make you call by phone and deal with a rep to cancel. In past years this took a long time, sometimes over an hour on hold. This year, it was fairly quick, but still an unnecessary pain.

If there was an equal, or better product, I would immediately switch. One person found this helpful. If you, like me, have a 1 person business you can come out way ahead by getting a new version of QuickBooks with the included payroll enhanced. It’s less than just renewing the payroll subscription and you get a new version of QuickBooks.

The trick I found was to let my existing subscription expire, then activate the included payroll. No phone calls to intuit were needed when I did that. I upgraded from QuickBooks For my use of QuickBooks it’s pretty much the same as the older version.

The upgrade was painless. I know it has lots of cool new features, but I don’t care and they don’t affect what I do in QuickBooks. If you use Payroll, you need to have a version within 3 years of the current version, so I had to upgrade. Bottom line for me is I’ll get a new version of QuickBooks every year with included payroll. It saves me lots of money over getting just the payroll subscription renewal from QuickBooks. Saving me that money and keeping me on the latest version essentially for free earns 5 stars in my book.
