Each weapon is fun to use, especially with the over the top visual effects that dominate the screen as you slaughter the enemy soldiers. Animations, models and textures are really well done and can actually hold up incredibly well. A fun, if sometimes frustrating glory. Levels can last too long despite the game actually being relatively short. This combined with the absolutely ludicrous amounts of them scattered and spawning throughout a level and the poor checkpoint system will have you doing the same things over and over again every time you die.

Everything just explodes in ridiculously exaggerated firefights that will have you killing dozens upon dozens of bad guys over large sprawling environments. Guns sound, look and act cool and everything is so unapologetically filled with mind bending adrenaline. A much needed diversion from the norm, a lot like the rest of the game. Or at least as much as it can be without running into problems.

Black is a cult classic. It is a game that you should by all intents play and chances are you will enjoy it. I’d wager that it is relatively hard to introduce anything truly new into an FPS title. We’ve seen it all before, from stunningly good AI to destructible terrain, so what really separates our older titles from newcomers, aside from small design improvements and better graphics?

So Update. I played my first game with the tiger that could’t travel with me to new lands; on land “4” or land 1 again. I’ve just started a new game and chose the Ape instead. So the tiger is broken? SingingCircleHippie 0 point.

The game loads, saves and runs without crashing. However, my creature tiger doesn’t follow me to new lands. Including skirmish modes. Chiara 1 point. I’m so happy I finally found this game again! It was my favorite as a child but I never managed to finish it due to CD damages. I followed the steps to properly install it and even if I’m no expert I managed : I have no issues with saves, there are just a few graphic problems, as the landscape texture is messed up and sometimes you can’t have a sense of depth and see through the mountains, but it’s still playable.

Sometimes the creature just disappears, you can only see her shadow and cannot interact with her, but this problem always fixes itself in a few minutes. The biggest issue is that in Land 2, as soon as I conquer the third village, the game crashes.

The only thing I’ve run into is that I have to be sure to create a saved game in the temple during the tutorial, otherwise the saves later in the game are not kept and you have to go through the tutorial again.

After you install it from the set-up file from the ISO download, it installs it using a fresh install of InstallShield – which doesn’t exist on any Windows 10 PC – and it doesn’t even let you delete it afterward. Black PC Download is an awesome game with high graphics. It would be awesome to enjoy this game on PC. As you already know that officially Black PC Download is not available, so you will not get the installation files directory of a CD copy of the game so that you can install the game directly on your PC.

Happily, this game also sounds great, and has a traditional epic symphonic score. Unfortunately, Black can be summed up in one phrase. One dimensional.

It plays like a great action movie, with a few problems, and literally doesn’t give you anything but that. Unapologetic is also another word I’d use to describe Black , and for that reason, I’d say it at least deserves a look, if not a buy. For my money, I want a little less blow up and a little more refined gameplay.
