Not even the drive you want to restore your backup from. Then once you manage to finally get into Acronis Recovery plug in your USB drive your backup is on, then it will detect it. If your system is an older system and doesn’t have Secure Boot in the BIOS enabled or it’s disabled you may be able to use the other option. And the man of the hour is Followed your instructions and am happy to report that this DeathStar is now fully operational.
Well, apart from that whole exposed thermal exhaust port issue, but that’s for another day. Your steps were very clear and it all worked a treat with nothing out of the ordinary to report back.
So many thanks indeed for doing the hard yards on this, and even moreso for sharing your knowledge. Very much appreciated. Nice, glad it really helped you fix the problem Sean!
I think all in all I probably spent a week between the original 6 hours trying to work out how to get it to work and then hitting other problems doing a full system restore through Acronis. One thing I found which you may hit into now and then was I was doing a complete partition drive backup with one full and then incremental backups.
I restored one image then I found for some reason I couldn’t then restart with a USB key, eventually managed to bypass this by using the ISO CD Rom image I created so definitely create one and test it can boot if you have a CD drive because that will be your ultimate backup.
Strangely I did another restore a few days later back to a slightly earlier backup and that worked fine and I can get into recovery mode, so several lessons learned here Ensure you have multiple backups. I’m actually doing a full backup then incremental for about 10 days then archiving these into another folder on the hard drive, and have backups spanning two hard drives.
However, Windows 10 is just around corner as a free update to Windows 7 upwards users, so make sure you do a full backup before you even contemplate upgrading to Windows 10 as a back out just in case! It’s even more disappointing when you consider that I actually paid money to get the upgrade.
One thing which was working well in the old version was the linux-mode for operations such as clone disk, accessing the recovery console before windows starts and for the boot recovery media from USB.
Unfortunately I found out the hard way when my disk crashed that the old version of the boot media can read backups – phew. What the hell does this have to do with Linux???
I fixed it myself. Below is the fix for other people who may need it. You can build WinPE with Acronis as well as was suggested above already. Use whatever works best for your situation though.
The live enviroment not start or give an error with AMD A8 notebooks since with most expensive Workstations equipped with Nvidia Quadro. Secure boot enabled or not the Linux enviromet not working as the same and you must fix that. Loadning, please wait I’ve read this thread and i’ve try in legacy boot, secure boot disabled, with no success.
A backup program work fine ONLY if you can restore the data. In this case i can make a backup with the ATI on working Windows 10 OS but if i need to recover it on a new hard drive, i can’t.

Posts: 1. Have any changes been made to your hardware? As the recovery CD has been working and suddenly having problems, this would tend to point to a hardware problem. Thank you for the reply! The version that I am using is I have switched it to compatibility mode for a test IDE is not a selection I tried the reboot and it failed still.

Degoo walks the fine line between cloud storage and online backup. In order to give users so much free backup space, Degoo cuts some corners. The customer support is also lacking, similar to what we find with free services like Duplicati read our Duplicati review.
Version Number: Web app: unspecified; Android: 1. Degoo is based in Sweden and uses some U. As far as we can tell, there are no links to the Chinese government, although it does still have its own security issues. Degoo is lacking pretty heavily in its feature set since the Windows desktop app stopped being supported and everything moved over to the web app.
This would have been fine — if the web app was any good. This means that large files will take a long time to upload, even if the change is relatively minor. You can delete files without worrying too much. Like most other cloud backup services, Degoo keeps deleted files for 30 days in a separate tab. At 10TB you have enough free space to occasionally delete a folder before you reupload it. This would give you a version for up to a month, without slowing down your uploads too much, due to the lack of a block-level sync.
Outside of the very basic ability to upload and view files, Degoo has a couple of notable features. The first is the ability to share files. The second is an add-on for the Ultimate plan — the photo storage maximizer tool. This can be useful if you want to save space while keeping your photos accessible offline. You can automatically upload certain file types, choose to upload over mobile data or WiFi, and look through all of your uploaded files.
However, at least the Degoo app for mobile works as a backup service. The only downside to the free account is that you have to deal with all the other problems with Degoo. There is one extra problem with the free plan. Beyond the free tier, when it comes to price per gigabyte, Degoo is actually pretty cheap. However, the selection of plans is a little confusing.
If you want the cheapest prices for your premium Degoo account, use your computer to buy it. A service with a limited feature set is normally really easy to use — look at our Backblaze review for a great example.
However, Degoo still manages to mess up here, making this a somewhat frustrating backup solution. The main upload button lets you add only one file or folder, everything seems to lag a little, and the progress bars for uploading files are confusing and unreliable.
You also get some options for an automated backup, which makes using it regularly less of a hassle. However, when Degoo misses a file due to an error, the warning is small and disappears quickly. Sadly, this means it will always go into your downloads folder, but at least the process is quick and easy.
Both transfers used a high-speed internet connection, throttled to Mbps, meaning each transfer should take 1 minute, 20 seconds. As you can see, the download speed was decent — only 1 minute, 42 seconds on average.
However, the upload speeds were far more unstable. In the first transfer, it struggled to use more than half of our bandwidth. The second transfer went faster, but still spent plenty of time processing at the end. We would have liked it to offer two-factor authentication, though. However, of the three major security features Degoo offers, the free tier comes with just one of them: bit AES encryption.
Zero-knowledge encryption and redundant data centers only come with the premium Degoo subscription options, and free users will have to pay up or put up with inferior security. Additionally, plenty of users have reported losing data or having their accounts deactivated — even if they have the old lifetime subscription. There have been similar reports about Jottacloud read our Jottacloud review , but at least Jottacloud has a good support team.
Another key element to privacy is the country where your data is held. Neither of these are ideal locations, so that zero-knowledge encryption will be useful if privacy is important to you. Normally, the first place to look is the knowledgebase. This is how you contact the email support. Many users reported waiting two or three weeks for a response, and some say they never heard back.
Even users who want plenty of cloud space for free should probably stay away and check out our MEGA review for a decent free service. However, for users willing to pay for their backup, almost every other online backup provider comes with better security and has an actual desktop client. Have you tried Degoo before? Did you think our review was fair?
Was there any part of the service that we missed? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Thanks for reading. You can link 2 devices in the free account I linked my pc and android phone. I can only warn people to use this service. I have a paid option with 2TB storage. However, i backed up a lot of private and business data on Degoo Thanks god i have also a harddrive backup.
The upload to Degoo works pretty fine, so thumbs up on this, but when it comes to restore the files, its a disaster! I am not able to download some of my files. I tried it a few hours to download a 2GB file, i tried it on different days and even on different devices computers its just dont downloading it.
So, i can not recommend this service at all. The support also do not reply to my mails, i am currently waiting more than a month on a reply. My experience so far has been extremely negative. I have zoolz, onedrive and onebox large storage facility which works much better than this, i was going to link a NAS to degoo as a backup for that data, but really this is unusable. Avoid this cloud service is my advice. I have purchased their 2TB storage plan. There is an app option to get extra space by letting Degoo use unused processor time, but I have this option turned off.
Unless Degoo fixes this issue, it is a company that should not be trusted. The client installer brings 3rd party software adcrap… and the client has an at least opt-in option for mining cryptocurrencies on your machine…. I have 2 tb backup plan. No problems until now. I bought it as an additional backup measure for my writing files. I wanted a backup only solution because cloud storage some times destroys files by wrong synching.
Their synch app need more features. On I know that is a backup service but it needs their the web to have the option to recover a file. A couple of months later I happened to bring up the desk top client and discovered that I no longer had the vast majority of the files backed up. The client started backing them up again, but that would have been of no use whatsoever had I needed to access the files.
This is entirely new information for us. Degoo is free for life or until it vanishes into the night. Rather, inviting friends gets you more free storage. I tried to do free gb space signup but it is asking me to refer 10 friends. Even I did referral still not able to download free version. Gildred, This is an updated version of the comment I tried to post yesterday. Please ignore the older version.
After using the free version of Degoo for a few months, I was about to sign up for a lifetime plan when I discovered that there were at least 2 deal breakers. Degoo is incapable of simply reassigning your data set on Degoo to your new PC. Assuming that you can download 20 GB of data a day, this is going to take 50 days. Step 2: Unlink the old PC. Step 3: Start backing up your files again from your new PC.
Again, assuming that you can upload 20 GB of data a day, this is going to take another 50 days. This is crazy! It is going to take you more than 3 months to do the 3 steps.
Why is it that Degoo is incapable of simply updating some configuration files to point to this new PC? Deal Breaker 2: Assuming that you are using the Windows version, once you have uploaded files to Degoo, there is no way of deleting any of them. Their mobile version allows deletion but you cannot do so for the Windows version.
You also cannot use the mobile version to delete files uploaded from the Windows PC or even files uploaded from another mobile device. The problems begin as soon as you try backing up more than one device. It gets confused as to which Backup belongs to which device. I spent over 2 months trying to get it to work as a reliable backup system, on two devices, one laptop and 1 desktop pc. It really is very nasty glitchy software.
